SellGadgets buys back used phones, laptops, and tablets, and we take responsibility for what happens to every device we collect. This policy explains how we refurbish, resell, or recycle devices responsibly, protect your data, and work to reduce electronic waste in line with India's E-Waste (Management) Rules.
Our commitment
SellGadgets is a sell-only service: you sell us a used device, we lock a price, arrange free doorstep pickup, and pay you instantly by UPI. We do not sell refurbished devices or buy them for resale to you. Once a device is with us, we are responsible for handling it in a way that is safe for people, data, and the environment.
Every device we collect is either put back into productive use through refurbishment and resale, or, when it has reached the end of its useful life, sent for certified recycling and disposal. Our aim is to keep working devices out of landfills and to make sure end-of-life electronics are processed responsibly.
NextGen Gadgets ("the Company") operates SellGadgets and is responsible for the practices described on this page. In this policy, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the Company.
How we handle the devices you sell
When your device reaches us, we assess its condition against the quote you accepted. Based on that assessment, each device follows one of two paths: reuse or recycling.
Reuse: Devices that work or can be economically repaired are cleaned, tested, repaired where needed, and passed on for continued use through our downstream partners. Extending a device's life is the most environmentally responsible outcome, so we prioritise reuse wherever it is possible.
Recycling: Devices that are damaged beyond economical repair, or that have genuinely reached the end of their life, are set aside for certified recycling and disposal. We do not send electronic waste to the general municipal waste stream.
Selling us your device does not create any obligation for you regarding its onward handling. Once pickup is complete and you have been paid, we take on full responsibility for the device.
Secure data destruction before recycling
Protecting your personal data is a core part of this policy. Before we sign off your quote, we ask you to back up anything you need, sign out of accounts such as your Google, Apple, or Samsung account, remove any SIM and memory cards, and turn off device locks and "Find My Device" style features. This helps make sure your data is not left on the device and that it can be processed.
On our side, before any device is refurbished for reuse or sent for recycling, we carry out data sanitisation to remove residual personal data. For devices that support it, this means a secure data wipe or factory reset; for storage media that cannot be reliably wiped, or for devices at end of life, media may be physically destroyed as part of the recycling process.
We treat any personal information handled during this process in line with our Privacy Policy and applicable Indian data protection law. If you have specific concerns about data on a device you have sold, contact us at support@sellgadgets.in and we will do our best to help.
Note: While we take reasonable steps to sanitise data, you remain responsible for backing up and removing your own data before pickup. We recommend you do not rely solely on post-collection wiping for sensitive information.
Certified recycling and disposal
Devices that reach the end of their life are handed over only to recyclers and dismantlers authorised under India's E-Waste (Management) Rules. These partners are expected to hold the applicable authorisations from the relevant State Pollution Control Board or Pollution Control Committee, or from the Central Pollution Control Board, and to follow environmentally sound recycling practices.
We do not dispose of collected electronics through informal or unauthorised channels, and we do not send them to landfill or incineration outside of an authorised process. Working with authorised partners helps ensure that hazardous components are handled safely and that recoverable materials such as metals and plastics are recovered rather than wasted.
This page describes our current approach. As our partner network and the regulations evolve, we may update how and with whom we recycle, while keeping to the principle of responsible, compliant disposal.
Reducing electronic waste
E-waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in India, and much of it is still handled informally. By making it easy and rewarding to sell a device you no longer use, SellGadgets aims to bring more devices into a responsible reuse-and-recycle stream.
We reduce waste in practical ways: by favouring repair and reuse over recycling wherever a device still has life in it, by routing genuine end-of-life devices to authorised recyclers, and by encouraging you to sell devices rather than leave them unused in a drawer or discard them with household waste.
If you have an old device that has no resale value, we would still rather it be recycled responsibly than thrown away. Reach out to us and we will let you know the options available in your area.
Your role as a seller
You can help us handle your device responsibly with a few simple steps before pickup: back up your data, sign out of all accounts, disable device locks and anti-theft features, and remove your SIM and any memory cards. Removing personal cases and accessories you want to keep is also a good idea, as these travel with the device once collected.
Please make sure you are the rightful owner of the device and are entitled to sell it. We do not knowingly accept stolen devices or devices still linked to someone else's account, and a device that remains locked to an account may not be eligible for the quoted price.
Our promise of a locked price with no surprise deductions still applies: any condition assessment we do after pickup relates to the state of the device, not to how it is later refurbished or recycled.

Q: What happens to my phone after I sell it? A: If it works or can be economically repaired, it is cleaned, tested, and passed on for continued use through our partners.
